Our parish-wide consultation on Speldhurst Chapel Project is now live! But while it's likely you will already know about this project if you live in Speldhurst, you might be asking what it's all about if you live in Ashurst, Langton Green or Old Groombridge.

The short answer is that Speldhurst Parish Council has the opportunity to secure the future of Speldhurst Community Shop & Post Office, which is at risk of closure. We would do this by taking a Public Works Loan to purchase the Chapel site opposite the current shop. This will slightly increase what you pay in council tax, so we need to know if this is something you want us to do.

For the full answer, visit Speldhurst Chapel Project where you will find lots of helpful information explaining exactly what Speldhurst Chapel Project is, and why the parish council is carrying out a consultation. There will also be drop-in sessions at Speldhurst Chapel on Saturday 5th and Saturday 18th August between 1pm and 3pm, when Parish Counciloors and representatives from Speldhurst Chapel Project will be available to answer your questions.

If possible, we want this consultation to gather the views of every household in Speldhurst Parish. So once you have digested all the details, please spend a couple of minutes taking part. You can do this in one of 3 ways:

  1. Complete the form online now.
  2. Email our Clerk, Katie Neve, with your responses to a questionnaire which you will shortly receive in the post: clerk@speldhurstparishcouncil.gov.uk
  3. Write down your answers to the postal questionnaire and return to: The Clerk, Speldhurst Parish Council, Langton Green Recreation Ground, Speldhurst Road, Langton Green, TN3 OJJ

We'll need your response by midnight on Wednesday 30th August.
