Maintaining Clear Footpaths - a Parish Effort
Speldhurst Parish Council
Our Groundsman Len has been busy this week cutting back the worst of the overgrowth in the alleyways connecting Farnham Lane, Mercers Newlands, Dornden Drive, and other local roads in Langton Green. We have received some lovely messages of thanks for this work, including one from a resident who uses a mobility scooter and can now access the path more easily.
The parish council has taken on the task of trimming overgrowth on these footpaths and alleyways as a goodwill gesture, now that KCC no longer does so. Our one-man team, Len, works really hard to get this done, and your 'Thank You's' are truly appreciated.
We have also received emails from residents regarding overgrown hedges encroaching on pavements. Please remember to schedule a hedge trim if you haven't already, so your neighbours can safely use the pavement. This is particularly important on narrow pavements, where overgrown hedges can force people with pushchairs or mobility aids into the road. We recognize that the rain this year has caused rapid growth and that nesting birds may delay trimming. However, if you can cut back the most obstructive parts, it would be greatly appreciated!
