This year's national Great British Spring Clean campaign is now over for another year, but here in Speldhurst Parish lots of people work hard to keep things tidy all year round. Here are just a few photos of the all effort that goes into cleaning up the parish. .

Firstly, thank you to the Bollands, who sent us a photo of them litter-picking in Langton Green. They are regular litter-pickers with a keen interest in conservation & nature. We know they are not alone in their efforts, so our thanks also go to others of you who litter-pick throughout the year. Don't forget, we have equipment in the council office if you ever want to borrow it.

Another big thank you goes to the resident who recently spent a good deal of time refurbishing the benches on The Green at Old Groombridge. When we asked if we could say a public thank you, they preferred just to be known as a local resident, but we’re sure that many of you will know who they are anyway and will want to add your thanks. We think you’ll agree that the smartened-up benches make The Green look most inviting in the sunshine.

This year, our own spring-cleaning efforts included a refresh of the lines in Langton Green Recreation Ground carpark, and a clear-up of the leaves and overgrown vegetatation along the public footpaths that connect Langton Green's residential roads. We will continue to keep the footpaths clear throughout the growing season so they are safe to use.

Finally, thanks as always to our Groundsman Len, a true poster boy for spring-cleaning in Speldhurst parish! Len gets so much done during his one day a week working for the parish council (2 days during the summer months), we really don't know what we'd do without him.
