Kent County Council (KCC) have informed us of several upcoming road closures including the following:

  • 9-11 Sept, Burnt House Lane, Speldhurst (drainage works). As far as we know this will be a complete closure for the duration of the works.
  • 17 Sept, Barden Road, Speldhurst from junction of Furzefield Avenue to Little Barden. The road will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm (Openreach).
  • 22 Sept, Etherington Hill, Speldhurst. The road will be closed between 8.30am and 4.30pm (drainage works).
  • 25-26 Sept, an overnight closure at the level crossing, Ashurst Hill, Ashurst. The road will be closed between 10.00pm and 6.00am (Network Rail).

Please note, there might be other road closures scheduled that we don't know about yet. We do try to share updates as soon as we get them, but aren't always told until they've started or kept informed of changes. The best place to get up-to-date information is One Network - here is the link:

KCC and nearly all utility companies now share road works updates on this interactive map, so it's useful to have it saved in your favourites bar.

People have also asked if we know when Major Yorks Road will re-open. Now that the school term has begun this closure is causing considerable congestion at drop off and pick up times. We have contacted KCC to ask whether they are on schedule to finish work by the estimated 13th September end date. You can contact them, too, via the Highways reporting tool: Report a problem on a road or pavement - Kent County Council
