Protecting the Langton Green Recreation Ground This Summer

Recent years have brought wetter Winters and dryer Springs, making ground conditions harder to manage. This year, leatherjacket damage, has also destroyed large areas of grass which is vital for absorbing rain and helping prevent flooding - something many will remember from 2019.

To help the grass recover and protect the Langton Green Rec, we will soon be installing a temporary, fenced 10,000-litre water tank behind the Pavilion. This will support a short-term irrigation system to maintain the newly regrown grass during dry periods.

This is a temporary but important step, and the tank will be safely secured with restricted access to protect this investment. The project has been made possible through joint funding from Speldhurst Parish Council, Kent FA, and Langton Green Community Sports Association.

As you enjoy the Rec this summer, please:

• Keep clear of hoses on watering days
• Respect fenced-off areas
