LGCSA informed the Parish Council on Tuesday morning that the spraying of the recreation ground with weedkiller took place on Monday evening. The Parish Council had intended to inform the public and give warning, if and when this was to take place. Unfortunately this has not been possible for a number of reasons, including the current extreme national circumstances.

The parties involved had been in the process of looking at alternative weed treatment. It appears that the only commercially available organic weedkiller is both less effective and more dangerous, being a strong acid with an unknown effect on the nature of the soil on the rec. However, a joint resolution had not yet been reached.

LGCSA, on advice from the Project Manager and Contractor, decided to take advantage of the present circumstances of dry weather combined with the closure of schools, café and village hall.

The Parish Council understand this is far from ideal and apologise for the lack of notice.
