Speldhurst Parish Council is looking to fill the part-time role of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). The position is based in the office at Langton Green Recreation Ground.

The ideal candidate will have experience of local government and a qualification such as CILCA, although applicants who do not have the qualification will be considered on the understanding that they commit to achieving it within a two-year period. Applicants must be computer literate and a working knowledge of Microsoft 365 would be an advantage. The successful candidate should also be experienced in managing staff, a good communicator, have proven organisational and administrative skills and be able to take accurate minutes at meetings which mostly occur in the evening.

The council will consider splitting the role of clerk and RFO and the hours will reflect that. The position will require a minimum of 22 hours pw to a maximum of 30 hours pw – the maximum will incorporate both roles. Initial salary will be within the scale point range 25-30 (£29,577 and £33,782 for a 37 hour week pro rata) depending on the role, qualification, and experience.

A comprehensive handover will be provided prior to the retirement of the current clerk.
