SGN has asked us to share the following information:

We’re preparing to carry out essential gas network upgrades along Lower Green Road and Broomhill Road in Tunbridge Wells. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to nearby homes and businesses and is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.

Our contractor, WCB Utilities who are completing this project on our behalf, will be starting work from Thursday 14 August. We expect this project to last for approximately three to four weeks.

To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll need to close the following roads in phases around our site for the duration of our work.

Phase One – Broomhill Road Will be closed from outside Broomhill Bank School to the junction with Lower Green Road.

Phase Two – Lower Green Road on completion of phase one we’ll then need to close Lower Green Road. We’ll be replacing our pipes from outside Broomhill Bank Cottages to outside 123 Lower Green Road. Broomhill Road will remain closed at its junction with Lower Green Road.

Signed diversions will be in place for affected motorists where roads are closed. Vehicle access will be maintained for residents and businesses within the works area. Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained through the works. Cyclists must dismount and walk through the work area.

We understand roadworks can be frustrating and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused. We’ve planned this work to be completed during the school summer holiday period to try to reduce the disruption as much as possible.

The new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years. This means that once our work is done, Tunbridge Wells residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
