An Update on Langton Pavilion Café

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who has contacted us with feedback about Langton Pavilion Café. Your feedback has been invaluable, not least because it has made it clear to us just how much support and need there is for a community space like the Langton Pavilion Café.

We’d also like to thank everyone who attended Monday night’s Full Council meeting. We are extremely grateful to you for making the effort to listen to what was said and for your respectful contributions during the public open session – it made a difficult subject so much easier to discuss.

Draft minutes of the meeting will be published on our website early next week, but for now we would like to give you a brief update.

During the public open session, Borough Councillor Matthew Sankey offered to carry out a process of mediation between Emma Howden from Langton Pavilion Café, Langton Green Community Sports Association (LGCSA) and Speldhurst Parish Council, to try to find a solution that will enable The Langton Pavilion Café to continue to operate in a way that is acceptable to all. As many of you will know, Matthew Sankey is a Small Business Champion as part of his role at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council (TWBC), and has many years of experience in the food and hospitality industry.

Emma Howden and representatives from LGCSA have already agreed to Matthew’s offer. Councillors also voted unanimously to accept his offer, and the mediation process has now commenced.

We will continue to update you on our website and Facebook page, and via village magazines as soon as there are any significant developments.

In the meantime, we would like to repeat Matthew’s request at Monday's meeting, that people refrain from speculating and commenting on social media about what is happening. We ask that you respect this request so that all involved can put their full efforts into the task at hand without distraction.

Please remember that the parish council’s door is always open and you can contact us with your questions at any time. While we may not be able to answer them immediately we will always endeavour to progress residents' enquiries as efficiently as we can.
