What's happening at the parish council?

🔽7th October 2025: Joint statement from Speldhurst Parish Council & Langton Green Community Sports Association - Langton Green Pavilion

Speldhurst Parish Council (SPC) and Langton Green Community Sports Association (LGCSA) are pleased to announce the opening of a new community hub and café at Langton Green Pavilion. For the next 6 months, pending the conclusion of the previously announced independent review of the use of the pavilion building, a new Community Interest Company (CIC), operated by Natalina Kiely and Ryan Cousins, will open at the pavilion.

Langton’s Sports, Community Hub & Café (LSCC) will be open every week day and will support various activities, clubs and events as well as providing a safe and welcoming space. In the evenings LSCC will be promoting a range of sports, social and community activities. At weekends, LSCC will be focused on serving LGCSA's sporting community as well as providing a café service to other visitors to the Rec.

Natalina and Ryan commented ”we are looking forward to meeting everyone and creating a community hub that will be at the heart of the village and a place that everyone will be proud of.” LSCC will open on Tuesday 14th October.

Both LGCSA and SPC wish Natalina and Ryan the best of luck as they start this journey. We encourage you all to please come along and support the new venture and to discuss with them any ideas for activities and events you would like the community hub to consider.

✅ Contact our Clerk directly if you’d like to check any details

Your Parish Council remains committed to serving the community with transparency, fairness, and integrity.

22nd August 2025 - An update on Langton Green Pavilion

The council very much regrets the decision taken by Langton Pavilion Community Hub not to extend their hire agreement but fully respects the reasons behind their decision.

The loss of the Community Hub will leave a void for many who have enjoyed the inclusive, welcoming and friendly atmosphere the Hub provided. In the 18 months since the Hub opened, and in the years before this operating as the Pavilion Café, Emma Howden and her wonderful team built and ran an important and impressive community amenity which so many of our residents enjoyed and appreciated. The loss of this highly regarded amenity will be sorely missed by us all.

As recently announced, the Council is undertaking a review of the pavilion and further updates on progress will be announced in due course.  Existing bookings made through SPC are not affected. Please contact SPC if you have any questions relating to a booking.

📝 Temporary adjustment to council office services: Our two assistant clerks will step down from their roles during the next month. Recruitment for new staff members is already underway, but there will be an interim period when we will focus on essential services only, and may be delayed in responding to non-urgent enquiries. We will resume normal operations once our new team members are fully onboarded. Thank you for bearing with us in this time of transition. As always, if you have any questions, contact our Clerk Katie Neve.
