Councillor Julia Soyke

Julia Soyke has been a valued member of Speldhurst Parish Council since 2002. Having undertaken a number of roles during her longstanding service as a Parish Councillor, she currently sits on the Finance, Amenities and Air Traffic Committees.

Julia first lived in Ashurst in 1955, attending Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School before university studies, work and marriage to her husband Peter. After living in Germany for ten years, Julia, Peter and their three children moved back to the area, eventually settling in Ashurst once more.

Julia’s career has taken in farming, dog and horse breeding, and a Bed and Breakfast business. She has been involved in the local community for many years, as a Borough Councillor, a member of the local church council and Chairman of Ashurst Village Hall.

Julia considers herself very fortunate to have most of her immediate family living within five minutes of Ashurst. She has a keen interest in gardening and likes to indulge her interest in wildlife, art and travelling whenever possible.
